πŸ’„ NO Makeup Challenge βŒ§

Disclaimer:

  • This will hurt my shopaholic and makeup addict tendencies.
  • This will not hurt my wallet.

When I was doing my 2015 wrap-up I noticed a big big problem and mistake I did all year round. Being my first year with an actual job and having a paycheck I, of course, hurried and bought Β all the items that I always wanted but never had the funds for. I was like a kid unleashed in a candy store.

This of course led to a clutter in make-up (loads of eyeshadows) and I didn’t really save up any money in 2015 like any considerate person would do.Β

So, for now, I’d like to give myself a challenge. Do not buy any make-up product or nailpolish for the next 3 months. I mean, it shouldn’t be that hard right? I already have all the products I need and more. We live in a world where consumerism is power and you are judged by how much you own. Every ad I see is about spending and buying and acquiring things you don’t really need just because you have the impression that it will make you look hotter, richer and well-established in life. It’s all about keeping appearances and coating the outside in a golden layer without actually focusing on the inside.

Because minimalism begins here. I’ve already started the decluttering operation, but while I did throw things out, I didn’t really stop buying new ones. So, for the next 3 months I shall use a concept brought to my attention by my friend Irina, the Shop your bag method. In short words, for every item I buy I throw another one out and when I want something I first go in my own bag and see if I can use as a replacement and finish something I already have first.

Wish me luck. xoxo
